An Introduction to Fly Fishing for Trout at Courtlough Fishery, Balbriggan – Sun 24th May 2015

Join with Garrett Ruigrok and the staff of Inland Fisheries Ireland at Courtlough Fishery, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin to learn all about fly-fishing for trout at this “FREE” catch and release event. Garrett is an APGAI qualified casting instructor and will be demonstrating the “how to” of getting started in this great hobby and pastime. He will inform you about tackle choice and how to pick the right gear, fly rods and reels, other fishing gear and how to set up your tackle and tie knots.

During this demonstration Garrett will be showing you how to cast a fly explain how to strike and play the fish and finishing up with unhooking and handling techniques. The practical demonstration will be followed by a “have a go casting session” Those attending the event will be able to try their luck against the wily trout at Courtlough. There will also be a junior’s pond where younger anglers can bait fish for trout. The event takes place from 10am to 4pm at the Courtlough Fishery, Balbriggan, North County Dublin.
