An introduction to fly fishing and spinning for Trout open day on Wavin Lake, Balrothery – Sat 23rd May 2015

Join with the Gormanston and District Angling Club to learn all about trout fishing at this “FREE” catch and release event. Members of the club will be demonstrating the “how to” of getting started in this great hobby and pastime. Club experts will inform you about tackle choice and how to pick the right gear, fly rods and reels and spinning gear, set up your tackle and tie knots. During this demonstration the Gormanston and District Angling Club team will be showing you how to cast, how to strike and play the fish and finishing up with unhooking and handling techniques. The practical demonstration will be followed by a “have a go casting session.” There will also be an opportunity for those attending the event will be able to try their luck spin fishing against the wily trout of Wavin Lake. The event takes place from 10am to 4pm at the Wavin Lake, Balrothery North County Dublin.

The club will also be recruiting new members on the day, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity to get involved in angling, join the club and have a hobby for life. This “FREE” event is open to all and beginners, novices and improvers are all welcome to join in. Parking is available at the fishery.
